summer semester 2021 | Last update: 25.01.2022 | Place course on memo listThe modern Pharmaceutical Chemistry combines aspects of the organic and inorganic chemistry with pharmacological, physiological and biochemical elements. The students is given the knowledge to analyse structure-activity-relationship and molecular biological principles of drug actions. Besides the syntheses, methods for characterisation and (bio)analytic of drugs will be presented and deepen on examples selected from the respective chapters.
Aspects of neurotransmission and diseases of the cardiovascular system:
1. Drugs acting at synaptic and neuroeffector junctional sites
- Muscarinic receptor agonists and antagonists
- Acetylcholinesterase agents
- Agents activing at the neuromuscular and anatomic ganglia
- Adrenergic agonists and antagonists
- Drugs in therapy of depression and anxiety disorders
- Monoamin oxidase inhibitors - Norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors - Selective Serotonin reuptake inhibitors - Atypical antidepressants
2. Drugs acting on the central nervous system
- Drug therapy of psychosis: Antidepressants
- Treatment of central nervous system, degenerative disorders
Drug therapy of inflammation, drugs acting on the central disorder (anestetics, therapy of epilepsies, opioids analgetics, hypnotics and sedatives), drugs affecting gastrointestinal function (antiemetics, agents used in the control of gastric acidity)
