- understand the importance of SDG 4 for "inclusive and high quality education"
- are prepared to link the living environments of their future target groups (schools, educational work, companies etc.) with global contexts
- know how to use target group-oriented methods of Global Citizenship Education
- critically address economic, social and environmental global challenges (like Corona crisis, climate change, inequalities, etc. from an educational perspective
- have developed and implemented small interdisciplinary educational projects in a heterogeneous group (language, field of study, origin, gender, etc.)
- reflect their own positioning in global power relations (e.g. "critical whiteness")
- know which experts and institutions in Tyrol they can turn to for questions and support on global issues
This course explores contents, attitudes and methods of Global Citizenship Education and the key competences of the future theoretically, for personal development and for practice in educational work. The course tackles the ever more increasing global complexity recognizing that everyone is part of these global processes in everyday life. In this course students from Austria and international students work together and explore GCED concepts and methods based on a participative learning and interdisciplinary approach. They plan and carry out small projects in field of educational work. A special focus is on the agenda 2030 of the UN, its 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs) and is significance for educational practice.
This seminar is held digitally: Based on interactive, processorientated, interdisciplinary learning sessions, approach to scientific literature, innovative methods (service design, anti bias approach, Betzavta), self-reflection, project design and implementation, group discussions (online and face to face), the work on specific methods for the target group, theoretical input and virtual visits of institutions working in Tyrol in the field of Global Education (Klimabündnis Tirol, Welthaus Innsbruck, InfoEck – Jugendinfo Tirol and Südwind Tirol) the main topics and learning methods of Global Citizenship Education (GCED) and the key competences of the future (UNESCO) shall be approached.

The seminar deals with all SDGs, emphasizing the indivisibility of the environmental, social and economic spheres. Depending on their study background, students can set their own priorities and decide which SDGs they want to work on specific projects - always in the context of education (SDG 4 "High Quality Education")
