Knowledge of methods in earthquake engineering. Understanding of application-specific earthquake design approaches according to EC8. Insight into the behavior of earthquake excited structures and proper choice of the appropriate method of analysis.

Earthquake induced response of inelastic single-degree-of-freedom systems. Spectral representation of the inelastic seismic response. Inelastic response and design spectra. Modal and simplified response spectrum analysis. Modeling of inelastic behavior of earthquake excited frame structures. Nonlinear static (pushover) analysis. Equivalent single-degree-of-freedom system. Capacity spectrum method according to EC8. Nonlinear response history analysis. Incremental dynamic analysis. Multi-support excitation. Fundamentals of performance based earthquake engineering.

Lectures in the classroom. Development and explanation of concepts and methods of structural dynamics. Application to problems in structural dynamics.

Homework assignment. Final oral examination
