Students are able to critically introduce important arguments of Christian moral theology regarding questions of life ethics into the social discourse.

The starting point is theological and philosophical reflections on the unconditional value of every human life and its protection. In addition, the ethical challenges of specific threats to human dignity at the beginning and end of life, or in sickness and suffering, are at the centre of attention. The aim is to examine exemplary topics and questions objectively and ethically more precisely and to get to know different societal and ecclesiastical argumenational patterns.

Lecture, discussion, exercises, break-out sessions.

Preparation and timely submission of three papers on work orders that will be announced during the VU.

Stephan Ernst, Am Anfang und Ende des Lebens. Grunfragen medizinischer Ethik, Freiburg. i. Br. 2020.

Giovanni Maio, Mittelpunkt Mensch, Stuttgart 22017.
