Students acquire a basic understanding of the social and cultural backgrounds of the texts of the Old and New Testaments
An understanding of historical context is essential for the interpretation of Biblical texts. This course offers an introduction to the historical, religious, political, cultural and social circumstances from the Bronze Age to the time of Jesus and the emergence of early Judaism and Christianity.
