Methodology and practice of solving civil law cases in preparation of the written exam.
In preparation for the written diploma examination in civil law and IPR, after an introduction to the technique of written case development, four exams are held - in all exercises at the same time (each on a Tuesday from 5:15 p.m., on October 27th (Wednesday), November 09th, November 23th, December 7th) - written, each followed by a detailed discussion of the case, in which only those who have taken the written exam are allowed to participate. The first of these exams is written on a given, restricted subject and takes 90 minutes. It is only used for self-assessment, does not count towards the final grade and should also be corrected by the students themselves after the discussion. Of the remaining three exams, at least two must be assessed positively in order to acquire the practice certificate; However, a written diploma examination passed after the exercise has started can compensate for a negatively assessed exercise exam. The first of the graded practice exams lasts two full hours; for this, too, the material in the course is restricted and specified. The last two exams each last three hours like the written diploma examination and correspond to this in terms of both the scope and the level. The last exam will be discussed in good time before the written diploma exam in June. Since this course specifically prepares students for the written diploma examination, comprehensive preparation with the help of the textbooks for each teaching unit is just as essential as active participation, not just by taking notes on all four exams.
In order to successfully complete this course, it is necessary to regularly attend all sessions and to pass at least two of three graded exams (see content).
Students who participate in all three graded in-class exams can opt to not have their final grade inserted into the university register.
Max. 20 participants! Only one exercise can be attended in the current semester; the final allocation takes place after the end of the registration period (which must be strictly observed): 1.9.-21.9.2021. Please pay attention to changes due to the current situation, which will be informed immediately. There is an express wish that the participants turn on the sound and camera during the online meetings. Participation in the course "Working Group on Legal Studies" (305271) at the end of September is strongly recommended for preparation.
