UE Italian Civil Law (for Beginners)

The course intends to provide to the students a general placement of private law. The emphasis will be especially on the general theory of the legal transaction, the law of obligations and of contracts. At the end of the course students should be able to orient themselves in the civil code and have knowledge of the basic legal terms of private law. The course addresses beginners and isn’t meant to substitute the more intense course (Klausurenübung).

The course is divided in a theoretical part and a practical part which is going to be more important. Teachers will try to give a brief introduction to the issue on which is going to be based the practical case, students will have to resolve autonomously in class at the next lesson. The practical cases are going to be discussed immediately in class and are going to be corrected by the teachers afterwards. Students will have to take an actual civil code with them at every lesson and are invited to participate actively at the course and prepare the issues indicated by the teachers.

Students will learn how to orient themselves in the civil code and will practice the solution of practical cases. Issues, which are particularly important, are going to be focused to guarantee a good knowledge of the legal terms of civil law. During the course will be used the Italian language, but there will be given also some explanation of technical terms in German.

Students will have to resolve 4 practical cases in class, the final mark will be composed by the average mark achieved during the course in the practical cases ant the oral participation in class. Students will have to resolve at least 3 of the 4 cases for to obtain the certificate.
