Students understand the principles and connections of international relations and national foreign policy, and they are able to analyse them under supervision. Students know the basic elements of classical international law and are able to reproduce them. Moreover, they acquire the ability to present the main historical developments in the state system of the 20th and 21st centuries.
The course will be an undergraduate introduction to the IR subdisciplines of strategic and security studies. The core theoretical paradigms in the discipline of International Relations will be discussed. The second section will address the pillars of the Westphalian System and its erosion, debate essential security strategies of states and end with concept and realities of collective security in international politics.
Lecture, assessment is based on a single examination at the end of the course.
