BA Politikwissenschaft § 5 (1) 9.a VO Political Communication and Electoral Analysis - Introductory Level (2/ 5)
Students acquire the ability to demonstrate and explain the behaviour of voters, political parties and the media in democracies theory-driven and with empirical findings. They know how to explain the function of political communication and the logics of media-centred democracy.
The lecture course introduces core theories for the explanation of voting behavior, shows their methodical approaches and gives an overview of the state of research in comparative election research. It covers traditional approaches in the field of election research, such as social structure, rational choice and party identification, as well as recent findings from political psychology and experimental (field) research.
