Students acquire the ability to list different approaches to electoral analysis and party research as well as political communication and media research. Moreover, they know how to analyse the influence of public opinion to politics.
The aim of this course is to introduce students with the central approaches od election and party research. On the one hand, theories on the individual level (elections and voters), as well as on the aggregate level (parties and party competition) are considered. In addition, theories on political communication and media research are considered, whereby the influence of public opinion on politics is also analyzed in more detail
Initial knowledge of statistical methods is required.
The grade of the course is composed of a presentation (30%) and a term paper (70% of the total grade).
