Comprehension of the relevance of the philosophy of technology and media in the context of selected key texts and positions; sensibility for the changing meaning of technology and media; basic knowledge of the area of philosophy of technology and media in considertation of both theories and practices.

"... our writing tools are also working on our thoughts", remarked Nietzsche once in a letter to Köselitz from the year 1882. In considertation of this pointed - and meanwhile often quoted - aphorism, this course is primarily dedicated to the task of discussing the question what technology and media might be in philosophical terms. For that matter positions like those of Nietzsche, Benjamin, Heidegger, Adorno, Anders, McLuhan, Flusser, Virilio, Kittler, Haraway, etc. shall be presented, compared, and reviewed in the wider context of historical developments and events.

Media-supported online-lecture units followed by discussions.
