This seminar will examine the method and practice of publishing digital letter collections. Students will receive insights into basic editorial practices and the science behind them. We will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of digital publishing, the function and possibility of commentary as well as the specificity of letters as a genre. Using original historical documents, students will have the opportunity to practice the transcription and commenting of letters themselves.
Introductory lectures, reading of primary and secondary literature, student presentations, discussions, group work, individual work
