winter semester 2021/2022 | Last update: 17.09.2021 | Place course on memo listExemplary examination of a central topic at the intersection of literature and media studies. Independent reflection and analysis of the roll of different media for the production, distribution and reception of literature based on profound knowledge.
What is the relationship between media and gender? To what extent are roles of reception and production linked to gender roles and to what extent do they in turn (re)produce these roles? To what extent are certain media perceived as gender-coded and how is their respective media culture shaped by this? From which sources do these attributions and codifications feed and to what extent have they changed over time? With a look at media history and theory, the course aims to explore these and other lines of connection between medium and gender using selected examples from literature, film, series, games, etc.
