The way we talk, what we say and how we use languages and varieties express self- and other-positioning.

Practices of positioning are to be seen in interaction as well as in media discourses.

We will detect linguistic means of positioning in different contexts. Thus the core of the course is the  analysis of different practices of positioning. Guided by your interests, you will

• build corpora
• learn about different methods of analyzing practices of positioning
• do actual empirical work.

Presentation, preparatory reading, creating, handling and presenting a small research task.

Home assignments, project report (oral and written); written exam
