Acquisition of the skill, to formulate a suitable question on a topic in Contemporary History after the research discussion. ability to analyse a topic supported by sources; ability to present the research results in an appropriate way with regards to contents and form; skill to critically reflect on the relevance and the methods of one’s own work.

This seminar deals with the specifics of regional history and its positioning in national, international and transnational historical contexts. The written paper of the students will take a specific look at regional micro-historical events of the 20th and 21st century and discuss them in different contexts. If possible, research in regional archives will take place during the lessons.

Lecture, discussion, required reading 

Regular attendance, active participation in discussions, required readings, oral presentation, written paper.

A full reading list will be provided at the start of the course.

Two positively graduated modules of choice modules 1 to 6. The respective proof ought to be produced until the end of October 2021.
