The acquisition of basic skills in dealing with ancient sources and in composing a paper.
War played a significant role in defining the ancient world. Insight into ancient warfare, its structural and historical and political dimensions for the societies of the ancient world. Critical examination of written sources, research and reading of or engagement with research literature.
Combination of lecture, reading tasks and guided reading, exercises, short presentations and group work.
Written paper, exercises, participation during the course.
Relevant literature will be announced during the course.
