The acquisition of basic skills in dealing with ancient sources.

The course gives an overview of Latin epigraphy as a scientific discipline. The significance of epigraphic relicts as a source of Roman everyday life on the one hand, and its military, cultural and social history on the other, should become aware. In order to achieve this, various types of inscriptions will be discussed. Furthermore, students should gain the ability to describe Latin inscriptions using formal and textual criteria.
