Learning Outcome:

Tutorial for critically analysing sources and for practicing methodological skills in the practice of ancient history.

Contents:

The lecture offers a historical examination of the ancient sources on eunuchs in the Roman Empire. In particular, questions about race, social status and political influence of eunuchs are discussed. The lecture takes a gender-historical perspective. Therefore, we work with the categories body and gender.
