The PS deals with the context, procedure and consequences of the Augsburg Diet of 1555, at which the Augsburg Religious Peace was adopted as an important European document of constitutional and legal equality of the confessions in the Goly Roman Empire. In addition to the content-related problems of the religious treaty, we will devote ourselves to the proceedings of the Diet, the most important persons involved and - following a current research question - its ceremonial. The focus of the work will be on how to approach an event that is limited in time but long-lasting in its consequences from a historiographical point of view and which tools can be used for interpretations.
