645302 UE Philosophy of Science "Everything turns"
winter semester 2021/2022 | Last update: 18.05.2021 | Place course on memo listGeneral theoretical reflection on the objectives of history; transmission of theoretical knowledge; understanding of current methodological discussions (and their historical genesis) as well as their application in scientific work.
In the course on the philosophy of science - "anything goes" - we deal intensively with one of the many "turns" in the humanities, social and cultural sciences proclaimed in the past decades: the "spatial turn". The shift from a primarily sign-based and linguistically constituted reality to an increased focus on space has also taken place in the field of history in the recent past. After an introduction and discussion of central texts on spatial theory, we will turn to examples from historical research practice and, on the basis of the theoretical tools we have acquired, examine various approaches to space and its representation.
