703135 VU Introduction to Robotics
winter semester 2021/2022 | Last update: 09.02.2022 | Place course on memo listA mobile manipulator is a robot that can move around and is equipped with an arm and a gripper. Artificial intelligence enables such robots to operate autonomously. Participants will be able to design and implement algorithmic components of autonomous mobile manipulators.
Basics in robotics, navigation, architectures of autonomous systems, dynamics and control, path planning and obstacle avoidance for mobile robots, manipulation. Robot programming and simulation with ROS (Robotic Operating System)
The objective of this course is to form a student team that participates in the 2021 international RoboCup@Work competition, in collaboration with the Department of Mechatronics. This competition involves a mobile robot equipped with an arm navigating a simplified factory environment and solving diverse mobile manipulation tasks such as picking, delivering, and placing objects, operating devices, and interacting with other robots or with humans. The course will teach the relevant theoretical competences, which will be brought to bear in practical projects where students design and implement functional modules of the mobile robot to be used at the competition.
project reports and evaluation of implemented modules
Will be discussed in the first lesson.
Remark for students of the Bachelor's Programme Computer Science according to the Curriculum 2007W: The course Introduction to Robotics VU 3 can be used as elective module. Allocation of confirmation is required.
