The students should become familiar with fundamental methods of physical measurents and evaluation of their results.
Mechanics, electricity and magnetism. Experiments:
- Introduction: Position, velocity, acceleration
- Hooke's law
- Harmonic oscillator
- Speed of sound
- Ohm's law, Kirchhoff's circuit laws
- Magnetism
- Circuits
- Snell's law
- Propagation of uncertainty
- Data visualization
- Writing a lab report
Continuous assessment (based on regular written and/or oral contribution by participants).
Assessment is based on preparation, implementation/documentation, data analysis, and a written description of the experiment.
- Experiment handouts (to be downloaded from OLAT)

Introduction to Physics (Einführung in die Physik),
Physics I: Mechanics and Thermodynamics (Physik I),
Physics II: Electromagnetism and Optics (Physik II).
Coordinator: Tracy Northup
Course starts on Thursday, Oct. 7. Starting at 15:30 in front of HS A, lab devices will be distributed and 3G credentials will be checked. At 16:00 in HS A, an introduction to the course will take place (approx. 1 hour).
The course will be held weekly in presence on Thursdays at 14:15. Further information will be provided at the first course meeting.
Please sign up for Group 1, as the groups have no special meaning.
It is essential to sign up for the course by September 21 at 23:59. You may sign up before the Physics II results are available, as the information about whether you have satisfied the prerequisites will be updated automatically in the university's system.
