Absolvents of this modul should understand, express and apply the content of the lectures. They should acquire the ability to work out further topics of numerical analysis independently. Furthermore, they should gain a basic understanding of numerical analysis.

Numerical methods for initial value problems of ordinary differential equations (one-step and multistep methods, step size control); Boundary value problems and eigenvalue problems of ordinary differential equations (theory, difference methods, variantional methods, shooting methods); numerical methods for partial differential equations (method of lines, spectral method); numerical treatment shock waves (Godunov's scheme).

Lecture, assessment is based on a single examination at the end of the course.

Oral examination.
