§ 5 (1) 15 Political Theory - Enhanced Level

Students understand the classic and modern concepts of political theory. They recognize meta-theoretical premises of political theory by scientific contextualization of key concepts. They can link historic and theoretical perspectives with current political questions and topics and are able to work on and explain processes of political significance.

Again war and no peace

This course examines the terms terms "war" and "peace" from different perspectives of political theory. The course, however, is not an introduction to the well trodden body of literature on the topic. Rather, the course localizes arguments of political theory why war is persistent and what the tendencies are that obstruct peace. After a theoretical and conceptual introduction, the course examines political theory's arguments on the persistency and fascination of war. In the second part, the course examines experiences of war on works of literature and intellectuals. Against this backdrop the course, third, approaches different arguments of fostering war and securing peace
