433903 SE PhD Seminar
summer semester 2022 | Last update: 09.12.2021 | Place course on memo listThe objective of the PhD seminar is to support students in their on-going work on their PhD thesis. The seminar provides an opportunity for students to present their work-in-progress to faculty and other students and to receive feedback on it. Students can use the seminar to clarify and discuss questions of methodology and research design, empirical strategies, data analysis, dealing with literature, or writing.
In the introductory session, we assign presentation slots. Students can choose what they want to focus on in their presentation. The minimum requirement (for newly enrolled PhD students) is to present a research proposal. Part of the introductory session will be used to explain what such a proposal should encompass. Students who are more advanced in their PhD may choose to present something else than a research proposal, such as a full paper, first empirical results, the design of an empirical study, etc.
