607211 UE Applied Literary Studies II: online and offline
summer semester 2022 | Last update: 26.11.2021 | Place course on memo listGetting a basic understanding how literary events and similar forms of dissemination, review, production and reception of literature are organized, on the web and offline.
For reasons we all know in the last two years literary events and similar phenomena of the dissemination, critique, production and reception of literature were taking place online more than before. So in this course we will take another look back on the various attempts at putting literary events online (as a lot of them are still available online). We will find out which weaknesses, differences and advantages literary events and similar phenomena have in comparison to their equivalents offline. At the moment one cannot know if and/or how events of any kind will be possible offline in the spring of 2022. So this course will have to be as flexible and spontaneous as cultural life as a whole has to be since two years. If possible, the course instructor will give insights into their various fields of practice, reaching from conventional literary events, performance literature, poetry slams, theatre and experimental types of events. Details regarding this will be announced at the beginning of the course.
Lecture, extensive reading and discussion, short presentations, insights behind the scenes of literary events (if possible)
Active participation in the lessons, short presentations, short papers
Will be announced and provided at the beginning of the course.
