Digitalization is a comprehensive social process that also extends to our language, especially regarding our interactions. This course is dedicated to two aspects out of the vast research area of "digital communication":
- Human-Computer Interaction, the transactions of information between automated systems and users, e.g. chatbots, robots, virtual and augmented reality, any interaction with a computer program.
- Computer-mediated communication, the interaction between human agents using digital technologies, e.g. online platforms, smartphones
A further topic are tendencies of the contemporary German language and their link to technological progress.
In the beginning of the term, we discuss the basics together as a cornerstone for your own project. In the second phase you analyze a chosen example for digital communication independently, but frequently discussing your findings with the others. Depending on your interests, we will deal with systematic, pragmatic, ehtical and educational aspects of digital communication.
