Expanded knowledge and independent application of art-historical methods on examples referred to in the lecture

The seminary deals with the more or less contemporary production of eastern and western medieval illustrated manuscripts in the period of the 9th and 10th centuries, which is of highest importance not only for their epoques, as many of them are products of highly developed and sumptuous court art as well as products of monastic centers. Phenomena as the so-called “Carolingian Renaissance” and the “Macedonian Renaissance” will be studied and compared along the cimelia, scriptoria and “schools”
