Acquisition of basic skills for dealing with historic sources and presentations of Contemporary History as well as skills in presenting the newly acquired knowledge orally as well as in writing.

Deepening knowledge of the Cold War as a global systemic conflict by examining selected examples of so-called proxy wars and their embedding in the phases of tension and relaxation in Soviet-American relations.

Interactive learning process: oral presentations, papers, discussions.

Course with continuous performance assessment: attendance at all sessions, active participation in discussions, oral presentation and handout, paper (16-18 pages).
