Basic facts of the time of Amarna, the religious developments, the concepts of power,  foreign relations, art ... - and practical experience in dealing with a careful review of sources.

King AMENOPHIS IV, who changed his name to Akhenaten ('Beneficial for the Aten'), ruled Egypt for 17 years in the middle of the fourteenth century B.C. His reign is seen as a time of changes involving the king's and queen's positions and titles, the religious movements and a new artistik style. The "mysterious" time of Amarna we will discuss in great detail. The starting point includes in each case a selected text and/or a figurative representation.

Lecture and presentation of facts, results of research and scholarly debates, discussion and collaborative critical analyses of sources.

Active participation, readings, regular and active participation in discussions, final written exam.

Literature provided with annotations is announced during the course
