Deepening of knowledge in work with (unprinted) medieval sources and with the historical auxiliary sciences. Study of the basics of chronology and practice on medieval sources.

The modern (Western) calendar is not and was not the only one in the world. In the Middle Ages, different types of year and day dating existed side by side in different regions of Europe. The exercise deals with the basics of medieval time calculation and teaches the ability to solve medieval dating formats.

Exercises, case studies, discussion, and lecture. Part of the work assignments will be elaborated in small groups.

Regular participation, contribution in class (discussion, presentation, and written course work), short written exam.
