summer semester 2022 | Last update: 15.09.2022 | Place course on memo list- Exemplary learning of the possibilities of knowledge about historical landscapes and their development
- Knowledge of the didactic possibilities of using museums and memorial sites
The excursion is dedicated to the history of Scotland with a focus on modern times. The history of this region on the edge of Europe will, on the one hand, explore with visits and guided tours the question of how modern Scotland developed since the 17th century and, on the other hand, demonstrate with examples how the history of Scotland is represented and politically discussed in today's historical culture. Important topics will be Scottish early modern religious and social history as well as industrialisation and urbanisation.
Our accommodation will probably be in Glasgow, which in the 19th century was called the "second city of the Empire" (after London). From here we will travel around Glasgow and Edinburgh and the Lowlands and also make a detour to the Highlands. The excursion will probably take place in July after the end of the semester teaching.
