In this tutorial students will intensify their knowledge of the topic by delving into different questions under inclusion of specialist literature with selected examples.

The tutorial will deal with sources and literature on garden history from the 17th to the early 19th century. During this period, the text genre of "garden art" developed, describing the creation and design of gardens. From the late 17th century onwards, different ideas of gardens developed (Baroque garden, palace garden, landscape garden, English garden), reflecting new social ways of dealing with and seeing nature. The Enlightenment period in particular developed a special predilection for an ideology of the garden.
