Students learn about positions, theoretical approaches and topics of gender research in cultural studies and are able to reflect and apply central concepts out of this field.

Gender studies, which began in our discipline in the 1980s as women's studies, represents a central research perspective of cultural studies that permeates all areas of everyday culture. By jointly reading historical and contemporary texts by gender researchers, we will trace the strands of discourse and developments in this field and explore related positions, research objects, theories and approaches. A reader with the texts will be made available on OpenOLAT.

Group discussion, discussion of key texts.

Regular participation, seminar reading, intensive reader role for a session, tern paper.
