The students learn the diagnostics and the current approaches to treatments for schizophrenia spectrum disorders. Furthermore, the students learn to deal critically with these treatment methods.

Participants study the latest research findings on clinical psychological intervention techniques for psychotic disorders. These forms of intervention (e.g. psychoeducation, metacognitive training, stress management training, social skills training, motivational interviewing, focusing techniques...) are then tested and practised by the students in role play. The effects of these forms of treatment will be reflected critically and the limitations of these treatment techniques will be discussed. In addition, the students receive an overview of the cooperation with other occupation groups (psychiatry, socio-, ergo-, and art therapy) to offer the patients the best possible treatment.

The following teaching methods are used: lecture, transfer of theory into practice (case studies and practice of treatment techniques in role play) and discussions.
