Advanced theoretical insight into the field of many-body physics, in particular in the classical field theoretical description of laboratory, space and fusion plasmas; ability to independently gain advanced knowledge in the field.

Plasma properties and occurence; molecular and continuum dynamic models; Maxwell-Boltzmann equations in phase space; coupling of electromagnetic and material fields; fundamental parameters, scales and frequencies; two-fluid models; magnetised plasmas; magnetohydrodynamics (MHD); equilibrium, waves, instabilities and turbulence; magnetic confinement; fusion plasma; numerical methods of plasma physics.

Presentation and practical (theoretical) exercises.

Combined written and immanent assesment.

Will be announced during the course. (For example: Thorne/Blandford, Modern Classical Physics, Princeton University Press, 2017.)

No prerequisites! Course is relatively independent in contents from the similarly named "Classical field theory - fluid dynamics and elasticity". Can be taken also as elective module.
