Die Studierenden erwerben individuelle, jedoch breit aufgefächerte Kenntnisse und Kompetenzen in verschiedenen Fachbereichen der Architektur. Sie entwickeln ein strategisches Verständnis für die Integration fachlichen Wissens in die Konzeption, Planung, Umsetzung und Vermittlung von Architektur.

Within the post-human design shift from user to automation, the class will explore how algorithms shape simulations and urbanization in the context of machine learning. We will first study the architecture of Human Exclusion Zones (HEZ), automated factories, and game simulations, and then develop our own ML agents (Unity). ML-Agents is an add-on for the existing Unity platform which is capable of hosting reinforcement learning within 3D environments and train intelligent agents in them. In the best case, after training these agents, students will be able to generate structures within the scaleless virtual environment of Unity.

The outcome after the 5-week class will be a project composed of simulations of machine learning agents building structures in a virtual world, a text for theoretical contextualization, and a website dedicated to the class project. Students should be interested either in the Unity-part or the theoretical-part of the class.
