The ability to understand and assess metaethical theories.
„It is a moral truth that it is wrong to murder”. Such utterances are common. However, some will ask: Do moral truths exist? In which sense of “true” are moral statements true? And do they have truthmakers? During the lecture we will investigate these metaethical questions.
Lecture with discussions and exercises.
Short essays and final oral exam.
