The students know how they can employ different techniques to manage and query their data. They are acquainted with the benefits and short-comings of structured and semi-structured data-management, and they can use the adequate data management technology for their own use-cases.

After an introduction to different data-management systems the students will get known methods of data-modeling. They will learn how to work with relational databases and XML. In the second part of the course students will be confronted with two different scenarios where they can apply those techniques show-cased and understand the benefits and drawbacks of these technologies.
