Students know the Church teaching about the church, its historical problems and the relevance for current questions in church and society

The church is not merely a global institution but herself an article of Christian faith. In what sense is this to be understood, what problems with this occurred in the past and the present? How can we deal with the church in a theologically responsible way, faithful to church teaching without neglecting her problematic aspects? Special attention will be placed in the teaching of the II Vatican Council.
