winter semester 2022/2023 | Last update: 05.10.2022 | Place course on memo listStudents shall acquire basic knowledge on the field organization studies with specific respect to its basic ideas, issues and paradigms. Students shall be able to distinguish different approaches to organization studies and should be able to describe the interrelation between historical contingencies and specific discourses within organization studies.

Instructions, lectures, plenary and group discussions, reading assignments.
Written exam. Presentation of an organization (culture analysis) in groups.
Basic literature: Clegg, S., Kornberger, M. & Pitsis, T. (latest edition): Managing and Organizations: An introduction to Theory and Practice. London: Sage. The book is available at the STUDIA bookshop.
Further Literature (scientific articles) will be provided via the Online Learning plattform (OLAT).
This module is offered at the beginning of the 1st semester. It is an intense reading and working module which forms the foundation for the master program. It will be completed by an examination. The successful completion of this module is the prerequisite for continuing the master program. ATTENDANCE IN THE INTRODUCTORY LECTURE IS OBLIGATORY.
