winter semester 2022/2023 | Last update: 23.01.2023 | Place course on memo listStudents get to know (modern) theoretical approaches to study individuals and societies and are able to explain how knowledge, education and inequalities are changing.
The lecture offers insights into subject and social theories and focuses on the analysis of different categories and dimensions of social inequalities in a globalised world. Different subject and social theories will be presented, such as structuralism, poststrucuralism as well a interaction theories. In order to understand the emergence, course and perpetuation of social inequalities, the theoretical concepts and positions are interlinked in a topic-related manner (e.g. school, family, work, etc.).
Lecture, reading of original texts, discussions
Written exam at the end of the semester.
