Ability to receive academic literature about humor, satire and parody critically; competence to analyze texts and utterances according to the methods of different linguistic disciplines; awareness raising on aspects of humor in oral and written communication; ability to write a term paper that meets academic standards

This course discusses major topics and methods of research in the field linguistic analysis of humor, satire and parody. We will deal with aspects of lexis, grammar and pragmatics when analysing humor, even conversational and sociolinguistic conditions of jokes.

Preparatory reading and discussions , 1 (short) presentation, starting to write a paper at the end of the course with the help and coaching of the teacher
