The students have a deepened factual knowledge and understanding of the developmental contexts of the epochs of art history

The art-historical development of monumental sculpture began in Europe in the 11th century on women's tombs in relief form and continued on portal walls until it increasingly detached itself from the wall to stand freely at the end (e.g. Bamberg or Magdeburg Riders). The main stages of development will have to be examined in depth and their interpretation will have to be placed in a larger cultural-historical context. The attempt should be made to explore art history in an interdisciplinary way.
