Expanded knowledge and independent application of art-historical methods on examples referred to in the lecture

Against the historical background of the Counter-Reformation and the wars against the Turks, the beginnings of an artistic dynamic were formed in Austria, which was to develop into a specific form of the European Baroque in the course of the 17th and 18th centuries. The proseminar presents the development of art in this period on the basis of major works from all artistic genres and sets itself the task of using exemplary comparisons with other European centres to make differences and commonalities visible and to question mechanisms and processes
