Acquisition of basic knowledge and application of relevant methods aiding scientific research.
The course aims to develop a global historical understanding of decolonisation processes in Africa. As already independent states, Egypt, Algeria, Ghana or Tanzania supported liberation movements within the framework of pan-African solidarity and became hubs of transnational networks that reached far beyond the African continent. Liberation movements sent members abroad for academic and military training (e.g. to China, Eastern Europe, or Cuba). Civil society solidarity movements in the West (such as the anti-apartheid movement) and state-sponsored solidarity in the state-socialist countries also became part of global anticolonial currents.
