Students are familiar with the legal framework of disability policy, in Austria as much as in exemplary UN member states. Students understand salutogenesis as a current approach to health and illness. Students use inclusive methods in historical and political research. Students are sensitized for fields of action in disability politics.

In September 2008 the Republic of Austria ratified the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. In memory of this jubilee the seminar sums up 15 years of disability politics in Austria and exemplary UN member states. Additionally, the seminar looks at the history of people with disabilities throughout the past centuries and deconstructs sociological narratives about their inclusion into the res publica.

Examination immanent seminar with compulsory attendance: active participation and regular contributions to seminar discussions; literature review, oral presentation; seminar thesis (max. 60.000 characters)
