Basics on the topic of transculturality and interreligiousness, insights into world views in their historical genesis.

This course deals with the clarification and genesis of the terms transculturality and interreligiousness as well as the basics of intercultural and transcultural learning. The course provides a step-by-step introduction to exegesis (as the key to understanding religious texts). In connection with world views - ways of looking at the world - the course also deals with the concepts of remembering and culture of remembrance as well as culture of gratitude, and with the significance of rites, e.g. rites de passages (initiation rites, confirmation, welcome and farewell rites in different religions). This also includes dealing with "soft concepts" such as mercy, forgiveness and solidarity. In the sense of existential learning, this also has to do with the question of what is one's own and what is foreign. What is my own and what is foreign to me? What is foreign to me in my own and what is deeply original to me in the foreign? A central aspect of intercultural and transcultural learning is the (self-)reflexive handling of Euro- and ethnocentrisms. However, the course also deals with the foreign in relation to the topic of religious homeland. Likewise, the slide "Inter- and Transcultural Learning" is examined in the light of identity-forming diversity and in the light of recent (political) developments of radicalisation in the sense of betraying one's own religion.

Introduction by the course leader (supported by visual material), discussion, self-experience in dealing with religious writings, excursions to a mosque, a synagogue, an Alevi Cem house and the Jewish cemetery.

Active participation, visit of the excursions with subsequent discussion, written final examination.
