Acquisition of skills for dealing with historic sources and studies in ancient history critically, as well as the competence to present the newly-gained knowledge verbally and/or in writing; Acquisition of the competence to apply methods of auxiliary sciences.

The campaign of Alexander III., known as Alexander the Great, led him as far as to India at the border of the Oikumene. In ancient texts as well as in modern literature his person and his deeds are described ambiguosly. After a brief introduction to the campaign we discuss the controversary assessments on Alexander in historical sources and in modern literature.
