Ability to independently make a research-based analysis and contextualisation of a topic from the History of the Middle Ages according to scientific rules; skills to independently research and evaluate topic-relevant sources and secondary literature; consolidated skills in writing of historic papers (formulation, giving of reasons and defending arguments).

Deepening of competence in creating a scientific study (sources and bibliography; footnotes, etc.); knowledge in a practical source of work and in the critical-methodological reflection of historical content.

In the seminar the developmen(s) and importance of European monasteries und monastic orders from the beginnings in the early Middle Ages to the reforms and changes of the 15th century are worket out.

Monastic orders play an essential role in the cultural, social, economic an governmental systems of the Middle Ages. Medieval monastic life was characterized by continuity and changes.

Introduction into the topic; reading and analysis of primary sources; reading and analysis of chosen essays; group work; workshops; discussions; presentations; written paper with presentation

Participation, presentation, written thesis

Will be discussed in the first lesson.

Positive assessment of one module from the elective modules 7 to 12. The respective proof ought to be produced until the end of October 2022.
